Cadets met on April 25, 2006 to attend the Spring Leadership Seminar. Cadets got the opportunity to meet with faculty and staff before departing for the summer.
Rising Corps leaders were invited to attend the Spring 2006 Leadership Seminar on April 25, 2006. The theme of the seminar was, "Preparing to Take the Guidon." The theme was chosen for its symbolic message. "Taking the Guidon" represents the cadet who must lead his fellow classmates, embrace the challenges of leadership, accept great responsibility, and learn from this tremendous opportunity.
Cadets met in the Riverview Room to have lunch with faculty members before departing for the summer. LTC Weart coordinated the event to focus on self-preparation for incoming Commanders, Senior NCOs, and selected staff officers. This focus recognizes the innate skills and desires of these cadets and the opportunity to help them take charge of their own leadership development as they prepare for their future roles. After LTC Weart welcomed the rising Corps leaders, President Rosa spoke on the importance of cadets taking advantage of leadership opportunities and as leaders, sharing the experience with peers and subordinates. Cadets engaged in group problem-solving exercise with LTC Barton and completed a Myers-Brigg Assessment with the help of Maj Fudge. After lunch, cadets participated in a team building exercise with Karen Shuler. Cadets also received notebooks to help manage information and document their experiences. In conclusion, LTC Weart discussed key dates to remember and gave tips on preparing for these leadership roles.
