The Fall Semester 2007 Planning Conference:

As part of the effort to improve leader development within The Citadel Experience, a planning conference was held on August 22nd, enabling Citadel’s Faculty and Staff to help with leadership activities and provide feedback to Cadet Company Commanders. Centered in the Krause Initiative, the Leadership Development Team Concept allows Company Commanders to work closely with the Tactical Officers (TACs), Active Duty Officers (ADOs), Academic Advisors, and Program Integrators. The conference had the 3 key objectives:

1.  Provide an overview of the Values and Respect Program in relation to the Leadership Development Team Concept.

2.  Provide the opportunity for the various individuals supporting and working with the different cadet companies (TACs, Academic Advisors, ADOs, etc.) to meet, interact, and better understand their respective roles on the Company Team.

3. Review planned Values and Respect Program activities for the fall semester and organize the team members to present, observe, and assist in the preparation for company level instruction.

Organized by company, teams were given a planning matrix which listed all the current Values & Respect classes.  Team members worked within their group to sign up for these classes.  This being the initial meeting, it was an opportunity for the teams to get to know one another and discuss their roles on the team. Finally, to support the Values and Respect Program, the Weekly Training Schedule for the Corps was realigned to provide dedicated instruction time during the normal class day.  This was a major investment of time and effort to support this program.
